The Admissions Process - A Quick overview with links

Step 1:Tour campus or attend an open house. Contact Olivia Brangan, Director of Admissions, at obrangan@friendshaverford.org to book your appointment.  

Step 2: Fill out an application.

Step 3: Submit a teacher referral and recent report cards, where applicable.

Step 4: Schedule a parent interview and confirm an admissions playdate or classroom visit for your child.

How to Apply - Detailed information

To begin the Online Application process, Create an Application Account. Upon account creation, you will receive an email containing a verification link. Once your email address has been verified, log into your account and create a new student application for your child. You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account and access your open application.

A non-refundable fee of $50 must be submitted with each application. If you have financial hardship, please contact obrangan@friendshaverford.org to waive the application fee.

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten Applicants

PS and PK applicants will participate in a one hour "playdate" visit. Dates and times will be confirmed when you apply.  Playdates take place 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on the following dates: Fri. Nov. 15, Fri. Dec. 13, and Fri. Jan. 10, 2025. Please note, during the playdate, parents/caregivers are asked to accompany their child.

Kindergarten Applicants

Kindergarten applicants participate in a 2 hour "playdate" visit at Friends School Haverford. Dates and times will be confirmed when you apply. Playdates take place from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the following dates: Fri. Nov. 15, Fri. Dec. 13, and Fri. Jan. 10, 2025.  Please note, during the playdate, parents/caregivers may remain in the building in a separate space from the kindergarten applicants.

Grades 1 and 2 applicants participate in one full day visit with their peer group. Applicants will remain through lunch. During this visit, your child will participate in all of the class activities and be assessed in reading, writing, and math. Students bring a snack, beverage and lunch. Students are expected to arrive at 8:00 a.m. at the Schoolhouse Office and will be dismissed at 3:00. 

Grades 3 - 5 Applicants

We are currently working to rebuild our upper elementary division, and we are only taking applications for Preschool through Grade 2 at this time. We plan to reopen Grade 3 in the Fall of 2025, Grade 4 in the Fall of 2026, and Grade 5 in the Fall of 2027.

Age Requirements

Preschool: Age 2.7 by Sept. 1 
Pre-Kindergarten: Age 4 by Sept 15
Kindergarten: Age 5 by Sept 15

After submitting the application, you can track your admissions status at the school by logging in to your account. In addition, you will be able to print the completed application, monitor when the school receives any applicable supplemental forms, and if necessary, reprint the forms.

Admissions Dates and Deadlines

Dec.12: Admissions application deadline. Following the deadline, FSH will continue to accept admissions applications on a rolling basis until all classes are filled.  

Jan. 5: Financial Aid application deadline

Jan. 26: Admissions decisions emailed to families

Feb. 9: Financial aid decisions are emailed to new and returning families
